Just days after President Obama acknowledged military setbacks in Iraq, the administration announced it will deploy 450 American military personnel to the region to support a battered Iraqi army. The U.S. training mission is intended to help Iraqi forces devise a counterattack strategy against the Islamic State extremists who have seized control of Anbar province.
