America’s Ballroom Challenge

America’s Ballroom Challenge is an exciting three-part series that brings together the nation’s top ballroom dancers to compete for the title of “America’s Best.” Hosted by former U.S. dance champions Mary Murphy and Tony Meredith, the series was shot in stunning high definition at the world’s largest ballroom dancing competition, the Ohio Star Ball.

The series features all four major styles of competitive ballroom dancing: American Smooth, American Rhythm, International Standard and International Latin. After a winning couple is crowned in each of the four styles, the four champions compete across dance styles in a best-of-show grand finale to determine a single winner.

The first Republican debate of the 2016 presidential election season Thursday night will be an unusual mix of politics, policy and personalities. Billionaire candidate Donald Trump will be center stage flanked by nine rivals: Jeb Bush, Scott Walker, Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, Ben Carson, Mike Huckabee, Chris Christie and John Kasich.

During the two-hour, nationally televised forum in Cleveland, the candidates can expect questions on key domestic and foreign policy issues like immigration reform, the economy and the Iran nuclear deal. By the end of the night the big questions might well be whether there was a potential turning point for any of the middle-tier candidates to break out from the pack?

The broadcast features an all-Balanchine program (including Serenade, and excerpts from Coppélia, Swan Lake, and Western Symphony) from its 50th annual showcase as well as rare behind-the-scenes footage, offering a close-up look at the ballet stars of tomorrow.

Fifty years after the tragic shooting of President John F. Kennedy, Secrets of the Dead chronicles minute-by-minute the assassination as it was revealed in the CBS newsroom from the moment the President was shot until Walter Cronkite’s emotional pronouncement of his death, one hour and eight minutes later. The drama of JFK: One PM Central Standard Time — the episode title is taken from the time President Kennedy was declared dead at Parkland Hospital — is played out amidst the chaos in Dallas, in the hospital, and in the CBS newsroom in New York. Included in the program will be moving memories from men and women who were with there on the day – in Dallas and New York.

On the border between the two, Russian-made Antonov planes indiscriminately drop bombs on settlements in the Nuba Mountains below. Yet, incredibly, the people of the Blue Nile respond to adversity with music, singing and dancing to celebrate their survival. Beats of the Antonov explores how music binds a community together, offering hope and a common identity for refugees engaged in a fierce battle to protect cultural traditions and heritage from those trying to obliterate them.

The approach of the wet season brings an explosion of life on the reef as corals spawn, sea birds nest and turtle hatchlings erupt over the beaches in the thousands. Like a great alien spaceship, the manta ray comes swooping in, a gentle plankton feeding giant up to seven meters wide and weighing as much as two tons. Soon torrential rain and severe storms will close in, bringing change and upheaval to the delicate ecosystem.
