Pro-life activists gather outside the U.S. Supreme Court before the justices overturned a Massachusetts law barring protests within 35 feet of abortion clinics.

There was major news out of the Supreme Court this week with four significant rulings on criminal searches, abortion protests, presidential powers and changes in internet technology. In three unanimous decisions, the justices restricted whether police can search a suspect’s cell phone, struck down a Massachusetts “buffer zone” law for anti-abortion protesters at women’s health clinics, and ruled President Obama overstepped his authority by bypassing Congress and making government appointments while Congress is on recess. And in a sign that acknowledges that viewing television has changed significantly, the justices ruled that taking television signals and sending them directly to personal mobile devices is a violation of copyright laws.
