Logan’s fortunes are looking up and he is pleased to securely provide for his wife Freya and his baby daughter Stella, as with the outbreak of World War II, Logan is recruited as a British spy by Ian Fleming. But before long, a mission separates him from his beloved Freya and Stella and pulls him into the Duke and Duchess of Windsor’s Bahamian inner circle, a suffocating and, as it turns out, dangerous place. Another mission for Logan brings another separation, and this time Logan’s luck runs out. As a prisoner of war in solitary isolation, the only thing worse than his imprisonment is his return home. Devastated by war and tragedy, Logan looks to America and New York City to begin anew.

“Lifeguard” follows Reagan from his youth in the American heartland to the triumph of his “revolution” in 1981. The program traces the origins of Reagan’s difficulty forming attachments to his itinerant childhood and a painful episode with his drunken father. The young boy turned to his mother and the teachings of her Fundamentalist church, The Disciples of Christ, which gave him a belief in predestination and a strong sense of good and evil.

The documentary explores the life of a first lady whose power and influence were often underestimated. Friends, family, historians, members of Ronald Reagan’s political inner circle and the former first lady herself tell the story of Nancy Reagan, from childhood to Hollywood, from Sacramento to Washington, and back to California, where she is still an advocate for issues that are important to her.
