Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are each making their final pitch to voters even as more than 30 million people have cast their ballots early.  As the campaigns remain planted in battleground states, the Republican nominee has taken the advice of his campaign leadership and stayed on message by continually hammering Clinton’s “corrupt” use of emails.  The Democratic nominee has pulled out big campaign surrogates including President Obama, Vice President Biden, Bernie Sanders and Alicia Machado, the former Miss Universe who was criticized by Trump in the 1990s.

This special Lincoln Center at the Movies presentation brings one of the world’s leading modern dance companies, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, to PBS. Designated by a U.S. Congressional resolution as a vital American “Cultural Ambassador to the World,” the Ailey company is known for its spectacular range, diversity and artistry, which are showcased in this episode, culminating in a performance of its beloved signature work, Revelations, the American dance masterpiece created by founder Alvin Ailey. Audiences will also get to see three additional dynamic pieces: Chroma by Wayne McGregor, Grace by Ronald K. Brown and Takademe by the company’s Artistic Director Robert Battle. Matthew Diamond directs for television. (2 hours)

THE STORY OF CATS

ASIA TO AFRICA

In the first episode, we discover how the first cats arose in the forests of Asia, how they spread across the continent, and later came to conquer Africa.  We reveal how they evolved flexible limbs to climb, giant bodies to survive in the cold, and super senses to catch prey.  Ultimately we discover how becoming social made the lion, king of the savannah.  Also featured in this episode are other larger cats such as the clouded, snow and African leopards, the Bengal and Siberian tigers, and the cheetah.  However, the introductions of smaller and lesser-known species like the serval, the caracal, and the fishing, Pallas’s and sand cats are just as fascinating.

American-led United Nations troops were outnumbered and at risk of annihilation at the Chosin Reservoir by the sudden entrance of the People’s Republic of China, led by Mao Zedong, into the five-month-old Korean War. The two-week battle that followed, fought in brutally cold temperatures, is one of the most celebrated in Marine Corps annals and helped set the course of American foreign policy in the Cold War and beyond. Revisit this pivotal 1950 Korean War battle through the eyewitness accounts of participants. (2 hours)
